Glass Logging Many Minutes In Rookie Year

Written by Paul Roper

A look at the Otters stats during the month of December reveals a surprising statistic.

Just one defenseman was a plus (+1) in December, which is a testament to his improving play, Otters rookie Nathan Glass.

The native of Florida was surprised when he found out that he was the only defenseman with a plus rating during December’s 12 games, but he took the news in stride and instead focused on his desire to be a better player.

“I just need to get bigger, faster and better right now,” Glass said. “I think I’m doing a decent job but I could always get better.”

Glass’ dedication to develop his game from the start of the season has led to increased ice time for Erie’s seventh round choice in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.

When Adam Pelech went down with a wrist injury after the first weekend of the season, it opened the door for one of the many rookies on the Otters blue line to eat up the vast amount of time Pelech would have been on the ice.
