Vladimir Tkachev

Vladimir Tkachev - Erie Otters

6'0" - 180 LBS
D.O.B. May 10, 1993

Born in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, Tkachev has duo citizenship and has played for Russia internationally, including in the IIHF World Under 18 Championships earlier this year where he scored a goal to help Russia defeat Canada 6-4 and take home the bronze medal.

Tkachev played alongside the potential number 1 pick in the NHL Entry Draft Nail Yakupov in the tournament. Otters GM Sherry Bassin said, "If you're playing for the national team, it's not the first time you had a pair of skates" in a way only Bassin can say.

The Otters used the 37th overall pick in the CHL Import Draft to select Tkachev who last season played for AK Bars Kazan. Bassin says that Tkachev will play for the Otters this season. Tkachev was also a second round pick, 41st overall, in the 2010 KHL Draft by AK Bars.

Tkachev was eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft but wasn't selected. In fact, he hadn't even made NHL Central Scouting's rankings. He's a good skater with good vision. He is able to find teammates and has a finishing touch. Is very good with puck possession and handles it very well. He lacks any type of physical game but will go to the front of the net with or without the puck.
