Josh Anderson

Josh Anderson - London Knights

6'1" 183 LBS
D.O.B. May 7, 1994

Anderson is in his first season with the Knights and currently has 7 goals and 6 assists in 43 games. He is ranked 161st on NHL Central Scouting's mid term rankings.

Anderson was a small 5'8, 150 pound soaking wet player in his OHL draft year and was overlooked in the draft. But in just over a year he grew 5 inches and gained 30 pounds and the Knights brought him in and signed him as a free agent.

In 2010-11 he played his Midget AAA for the Burlington Eagles and got a 6 game call up with the Burlington Cougars of the OJHL.

Anderson has good size, and will likely continue to grow and add more bulk. He's a deceptively fast skater. He gets in on the forecheck quickly and uses his size to his advantage. He's strong at protecting the puck. He's strong defensively and knows his role and position in his own end. He has a very good shot that he gets off quickly and accurately.

Anderson has a very good work ethic and is totally committed to making himself the best player he can be. He trained with Gary Roberts over the summer with some NHL'ers and he knows what it takes to be successful.

On a team with savvy veterans and plenty of top quality draft eligible players, quality ice time is at a premium but Anderson makes the best of his opportunities. He's capable of putting up more points than this season has allowed him to, but on the high flying Knights, getting those quality minutes to do so is not easy.

Now I'm not suggesting Anderson is a first round prospect. But in my opinion, Central scouting has him just a tad to low. It's hard to gauge a player on a team that has 10 draft eligible players on it and 3 more that aren't eligible until 2013. But in the most recent Knights game I attended, I was 100% focused on Anderson whenever he touched the ice. And I came away more than impressed.
