Brandon Devlin Suspended 5 Games

Windsor Spitfire's defenseman Brandon Devlin has been suspended for 5 games for breaking the OHL's Diversity Policy.

The incident occurred in Friday's matchup versus the Guelph Storm. Devlin was upset with Guelph’s Tyler Bertuzzi after his hit on Windsor defenceman Saverio Posa along the boards left Posa on the ice and in need of attention midway through the first period. Bertuzzi was not assessed a penalty on the play. Devlin went after Bertuzzi and was assessed a penalty.

After the game Devlin said “The ref said it was a racial slur and it wasn't, I was trying to get his attention and trying to get him to fight.”

Spitfire's coach Bob Boughner added “The ref said it was for a comment (Devlin) made, but I haven’t gotten to the bottom of it yet.”
